Pollen Allergies in 2025: US Cities Weathering Sneezing Season

While spring blooms around the United States, millions are fighting through intensified allergy reactions. Pollen allergies in 2025 have made this one of the worst allergy years in recent history, as cities across the country battle increased pollen counts and extended exposure times.

Top Cities for Seasonal Allergies: AAFA’s 2025 Allergy Capitals Report

According to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America’s (AAFA) 2025 Allergy Capitals report, the following cities are identified as the most challenging for seasonal allergies. These rankings are based on factors such as high pollen counts, increased use of over-the-counter allergy medications, and a limited number of board-certified allergists.

Criteria Resulting in the Longer Allergy Season

Climate Change: Warming and rising carbon dioxide levels have lengthened the growing season, resulting in earlier and longer pollen production. It is observed in 172 American cities with an average 20-day increase in the freeze-free growing season since 1970.

Urbanization and Pollution: Urban pollutant concentrations result in more potent pollen and heightened allergic responses.

More Pollen Produced: More pollen is being produced by plants because of the increased CO₂ levels, intensifying allergy symptoms for most individuals.

Allergy Symptom Relief Suggestions

The following suggestions are recommended by experts to relieve allergy symptoms during this difficult season:-

Medication: Take antihistamines in 24-hour duration early in the season in order to control the symptoms effectively.

Environmental Controls: Keep the windows closed when pollen is most active, which is normally early morning and evening.

Personal Hygiene: Shower and change after going outdoors to wash off pollen grains.

Indoor Air Quality: Implement air purifiers with HEPA filters to limit indoor pollen levels.

Consult Healthcare Providers: Receive personalized treatment strategies from allergists, particularly when symptoms worsen or persist.

conclusion

Because environmental patterns continue to be affected by climate change, allergy seasons will be prolonged and intense. Residents of the affected cities need to remain well-informed regarding local pollen projections and take measures of prevention in order to be able to efficiently deal with symptoms.
